1981 - Peugeot Racer

Bringing a piece of cycling history back to life is a meticulous and rewarding process. For this 1981 Peugeot Racer, our rebuild began with a complete, down-to-the-frame strip-down. As seen in the process images, critical bearing surfaces like the bottom bracket and headset were cleaned, inspected, and painstakingly regreased with fresh lubricant, ensuring silk-smooth rotation and longevity for the next generation of riding. Components such as the fork and its associated cups were carefully installed and correctly torqued, guaranteeing precise steering and a secure front end. Every part, from the smallest ball bearing to the largest chrome piece, was cleaned, polished, and reassembled with historical accuracy and modern mechanical precision, culminating in a beautiful, road-ready vintage bicycle that rides as well as it looks.  Sadly the Simplex Derailleur could not be saved as it was made with rivets and the cage had broken so replaced with a time fitting Shimano derailleur to maintain the look of this vintage bike.
